Seven regular members are appointed for three year terms and two associate members are appointed for one year terms. It hears a wide variety of land use cases and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for a final decision on: rezoning requests; special use requests; vacation requests; combined preliminary and final subdivision plats; special district service plans; and zoning resolution and land development regulation amendments. The Planning Commission makes final decisions on urban growth boundaries and site approval requests. Per Colorado State Statute, the Planning Commission is charged with making, adopting and updating the county's Community Plans and Comprehensive Master Plan.
