The Open Space Advisory Committee is a 10-member volunteer board appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. It makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the selection, development, maintenance, preservation, and use of Open Space as set forth in the 1972 Open Space Enabling Resolution, and as amended in 1980 to authorize construction, acquisition, and maintenance of capital improvements.The committee reviews and makes recommendations regarding: annual and five-year Open Space budgets; all acquisitions, dispositions, trades and gifts of interests in real property including terms of purchase and sale agreements related to real property interests; grants to cities, nonprofit organizations and districts that provide park and recreation services; purchase, sale, lease, or transfers of water rights; the naming of county Open Space parks; intergovernmental agreements; and such other matters as the Open Space Director deems appropriate.
